Successive Discount Calculator

Two discounts are applied sequentially, not added together. This tool shows the true combined discount and the final price.

How this calculator works

Final price = original × (1 − first ÷ 100) × (1 − second ÷ 100). Effective discount = 1 − both remaining-price factors.

Example

On ₹2,000, 20% off followed by 10% off produces ₹1,440. The effective discount is 28%, not 30%.

Using the result well

Enter amounts using one currency consistently. The calculator displays two decimal places for money, while its internal arithmetic keeps more precision. Receipts may differ by a small amount when a seller rounds each line item separately.

For a purchase or business decision, also consider delivery fees, product quality, return conditions, taxes and any eligibility rules. A calculated saving does not by itself prove that an offer is good value.

Frequently asked questions

Why do 20% and 10% become 28%?

The second 10% is taken from the already reduced price, so it saves 8% of the original price.

Does the order change the result?

For percentage-only discounts, no. Multiplying the two remaining-price factors gives the same result in either order.
