Reverse Discount Calculator
When a receipt shows the reduced price but not the original price, reverse the discount to recover the price before the reduction.
How this calculator works
Original price = sale price ÷ (1 − discount ÷ 100). Savings = original price − sale price.
If ₹800 is the price after 20% off, the original price was ₹1,000 and the saving was ₹200.
Using the result well
Enter amounts using one currency consistently. The calculator displays two decimal places for money, while its internal arithmetic keeps more precision. Receipts may differ by a small amount when a seller rounds each line item separately.
For a purchase or business decision, also consider delivery fees, product quality, return conditions, taxes and any eligibility rules. A calculated saving does not by itself prove that an offer is good value.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I enter 100%?
At 100% off the sale price is zero, so a non-zero original price cannot be recovered from the sale price.
Is reverse discount the same as adding the percentage back?
No. Adding 20% to ₹800 gives ₹960, not ₹1,000, because the 20% discount was based on the larger original price.
